Rooted in a rich history of faith and community, the 7-Churches web app was born from a heartfelt mission to revive and deepen the spiritual significance of this practice, particularly in Egypt, where the tradition of visiting seven churches on Holy Thursday has become increasingly secularized. Developed by a passionate team, this app is designed to make the pilgrimage experience accessible, reflective, and transformative for users worldwide.
The idea for the web app was proposed by a young Egyptian-Canadian priest, whose vision was to reconnect people with the spiritual essence of the seven-church pilgrimage. Though he passed away before seeing his dream realized, two parishioners and friends—a tech-savvy agency founder and his designer wife—took up the mantle to bring his vision to life. Collaborating with the vicar apostolic of Alexandria and his vicar general, the team ensured the web app stayed true to its spiritual roots while being adaptable to local contexts everywhere.
